More Than Jewellery: The Crawford Hill Story

My journey as a jeweller began in 2008. As a natural creative, I quickly found my passion in the patient, intricate process of bringing ideas to life. Initially, my focus was on crafting bold floral arrangements and blossoms into statement pieces. However, my mother, Barbara, a passionate horsewoman, consistently encouraged me to create designs for the equestrian world. For a long time, I resisted until 2012, when I finally made her a unique half-snaffle pendant.

The response was immediate. Mum shared it with her equestrian friends, and suddenly, my path was set. That single, heartfelt piece became the catalyst for Crawford Hill. To this day, the original mold I created from her pendant is still in use—a constant, cherished homage to the woman who inspired it all and who we sadly lost in 2016. It’s the legacy and love that’s infused into every piece I create.

From Freeform to Flawless: A New Design Discipline

Creating floral jewellery is a wonderfully fluid process, but equestrian jewellery demanded structure. Every line had to be meticulous, every curve authentic to the tack it represented, and the final polish flawless. I began with two core designs—the half snaffle and the large stirrup—and created molds. That precision still guides my work today.

More Than a Transaction: Your Stories, Our Community

Before a website, there was a Facebook page: Kelly Harris Equestrian Jewellery. The business grew through conversations, not clicks. I listened to triumphs and heartbreaks and saw the resilience of this community—the spirit that gets back in the saddle after a fall. Crafting for you is about honouring that spirit.

A New Partnership: The 2020 Rebrand

By 2020, jewellery had slipped toward hobby. Then I met Daryl Hill. He backed the craft, we built Crawford Hill Jewellery, and he rebuilt the workshop. Today he handles polishing, melting, and quality control. Zero room for less than perfect.

The Crawford Hill Process: The Art of the Heirloom

Equestrian pieces need real strength. I add durability by hiding more metal within the design lines, boosting strength without losing elegance. Beautiful, engineered, wearable—built for real life in and out of the arena.

Our Jewellery — Worn by the Community

We still whisper “We made that” when we spot a piece in the wild. We’ve handcrafted thousands over 13 years, sponsored events across NZ and Australia, and we’re in awe of the organisers who keep this world moving. To every rider, supporter, and organiser: thank you.

For the Grit and the Gleam

That first half-snaffle wasn’t just jewellery; it was an emblem of a lifestyle: grit and gleam. Be Resilient and Bold, and yes, a little Boujee. Our jewellery is made to be worn, loved, and resilient—strong enough for the work, beautiful enough for the reward.
